Festival Phenomena, DADA Cabaret anglo - Sala Rossa 2019
PleasurED bumps up against different genres and every so often gets stuck in a cyclical dance cultivating its distance from the middle, the musical, the recitative, and the magic show of parts unknown. Created and performed by Hanako Hoshimi-Caines and Stephen Quinlan.
LUX Magna festival - Sala Rossa
Kazoku (family)
This piece taps into diaspora, roots and home making, something between a monument and an ode.
A performance, a suspended object, from a sense of proximity to the word “abcanny”: the monster (“of multiple origins”) lacks history. But this need not be monstrous in the traditional sense but as the utter uniformity of the quotidian as a lack of form, which can be considered limitless. Childhood memories of Patsy Cline and rearranging the living spaces. Ramen noodles for lunch, comfort food, the kind from the packet.
Tulsa Artist Fellowship
“Tongue Between Teeth Slightly Open” is a choreographic work by Hanako Hoshimi-Caines and Tulsa Artist Fellow Elisa Harkins. For the work an artist and a dancer created a movement score that explores the sentence ‘The creative act consists not only in the stipulation and formation of concrete structures but in responsible maintenance of them’.
